WUNK Magazine
WUNK is a brand new arts and culture magazine that mixes the high-brow with the low-brow, and celebrates Pacific Northwest artists and creators working at the edges. The rag will feature as many art forms as we can cram into its pages, including fiction, poetry, satire, gonzo journalism, comics, illustration, paintings, photography, collage, and anything else we can figure out how to print. Issue one will come out Fall 2026.
The WUNK Mission
Community : The Pacific Northwest has some of the most talented, innovative, and daring artists working today, but due to a lack of third spaces, and limited exhibition opportunities, a great deal of them are living in obscurity. WUNK Magazine is designed to help new and developing artists engage with the existing scene, while growing our community of creatives.
Exhibition : In the current era, many Portland artists struggle with finding avenues to share their work. A lot of galleries are closed off to working class and newer artists, and with so much of our local print media going under in the last few years, there are very few publication opportunities for new art. WUNK will gather between 30 and 60 artists per issue, providing showcase opportunities for a diverse group of creatives working in various mediums.
Distribution : Great art should be accessible! WUNK will be a free publication, and we will be printing a minimum of 500 copies. Additionally, the entirety of each issue will be available as a downloadable PDF from this website, keeping the work accessible to anyone and everyone who wants to see it.
Contributing artists maintain ownership of all submitted and accepted pieces. If your piece(s) are accepted for WUNK, 4ARTSAKE has the right to publish and distribute the accepted work, and the ability to use contributed pieces to market the project, but we claim no ownership of anyone else’s art.
WUNK Will Be 100% FREE
The main goal of the WUNK project is to help elevate and signal-boost as many talented, lesser-known artists from the PNW as we can, and we feel the best way to do this is to make the magazine 100% free to the public. To bring this dream into reality, all of our contributing artists donate the use of their work to the magazine without compensation, keeping the magazine accessible to everyone. We run a small number of ads in the magazine, most of which designed are by our artists, and the funds raised are used for production and distribution costs, allowing us to give the magazine to the public for free, and build community between artist and audience through this ongoing collaborative art project.
