Join the Mixtape!
The Portland D.I.Y. Mixtape 2025 is a celebratory snapshot of this unique moment in the unsigned, underground, and D.I.Y. Portland music scene.
Portland is (and has been) a hub of musical creativity and experimentation, fostering a thriving community of artists making and releasing interesting, innovative, and crowd-pleasing tracks across a wide variety of genres. However, with trends in the mainstream music industry continuing to move away from authenticity and radical self-expression, a lot of Portland’s best artists have stayed completely under the radar, and are only known (and loved!) by the folks lucky enough to see them live at their local dive bar or house show.
With the Portland D.I.Y Mixtape 2025, we will bring together Portland’s best underground and D.I.Y. acts on one album, introducing them to a much wider audience, and helping people everywhere to find and fall in love with their next favorite Portland band.
Submission Guidelines
For us to consider your song for the Mixtape, you / your band must meet these criteria:
You / your band must be active in the current music scene, by which we mean that you have performed live or released new music in the last six months.
All submitted songs need to be hosted online for us to listen to and consider. This can be on a music service, or your own website, on YouTube, et cetera.
Every member of your band needs to live in the Portland metro area (including our close-by neighbors, such as Gresham, Clackamas, Tigard, et cetera).
There are no restrictions on genre or type of music, we want to hear it all. Submitted songs do not need to have been recorded in 2025, as long as the submitted song is something you still play live.
Ownership / Rights
Contributing artists maintain ownership of all submitted and accepted pieces. If your song is accepted for the Portland D.I.Y. Mixtape 2025, 4ARTSAKE has the right to publish and distribute the accepted work, and use all accepted music in any marketing efforts to promote the Mixtape, but will claim no ownership of anyone else’s art, nor do we demand any exclusivity rights. Your music remains your own.
Compensation
Contributing artists will not be compensated directly for their contributions to the Mixtape. Proceeds from the Portland D.I.Y. Mixtape 2025 will be re-invested into the non-profit to create new opportunities for exhibition and distribution for Portland creatives, including more Music Compilations, Print Anthologies, and Collaborative Film Projects.
