MAKE ART 4ARTSAKE!

4ARTSAKE is a Portland-based nonprofit dedicated to providing Education, Resources, Guidance, Opportunities, and Exposure to beginning and developing artists in the Pacific Northwest.

As an organization, we value Creativity, Community, and Collaboration. We believe wholeheartedly in the old adage “If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together.” As such, our main focus is on group projects that prioritize Hands-On Experience, Collaboration, and Shareable Finished Work.

Art is the expression of the human experience.

OUR CURRENT PROJECTS

Hooplah! Newspaper Project

In Q4 of 2025, 4ARTSAKE will be releasing our first issue of Hooplah!, an arts and comics Newspaper focused on Portland artists. This project will include comics, standalone visual pieces, photography, poetry, short fiction, and some select citizen journalism, as a showcase of independent and D.I.Y. artists living and working in the Pacific Northwest.

Contributing artists maintain ownership of all submitted and accepted pieces. If your piece(s) are accepted for Hooplah!, 4ARTSAKE has the right to publish and distribute the accepted work, and the ability to use contributed pieces to market the Newspaper, but we claim no ownership of anyone else’s art.

We are aiming to have our first issue of the paper published in late November 2025, and so the Deadline for finished work will be Friday, October 17th.

Are you a Comic Artist, Photographer, Poet, Writer, or Journalist looking to collaborate and help build the future of the Portland art scene? Check out our submission guidelines and join Hooplah! today!

Portland D.I.Y. Mixtape 2025

Portland has one of the coolest, most innovative, and most culturally relevant music scenes in the United States — and almost all of it is happening off the radar of the major labels.

4ARTSAKE is proud to announce the Portland D.I.Y. Mixtape 2025 project, collecting the best underground music that our city has to offer, and putting it all in one place. This will be a gateway for people throughout the city and across the world to connect to our unique and vibrant music scene, and elevate the astounding artistry being produced in PDX.

All proceeds from this project will be re-invested into more Collective and Collaborative projects for Portland creatives, including more Music Compilations, Print Anthologies, and Group Film Projects, further supporting the development of an art scene already in motion.

Are you an independent Band or Musician looking to collaborate with other artists, build community, and help elevate the Portland music scene? Reach out today and get on this year’s mixtape!

WAREHOUSE SCAREHOUSE

For our next group film project, the 4AS Film Production Club will be assisting in the creation of a full-length horror feature!

WAREHOUSE SCAREHOUSE is a horror comedy about a small group of close-knit friends fighting for their lives against an ancient demonic entity. Inspired by classic 80’s horror films like DEMONS (1985), and the iconic EVIL DEAD II (1987), but also American counter-culture hangout films like DAZED AND CONFUSED, ROCK-N-ROLL HIGH SCHOOL, and REALITY BITES, WAREHOUSE-SCAREHOUSE is a film that’s one part monster movie, one part character-driven comedy.

Status: Pre-Production

The WAREHOUSE SCAREHOUSE project will bring together local Portland and PNW collaborators across a wide-variety of mediums, including Actors, Musicians, Costume Designers, Makeup Artists, Videographers, and Animators, as well as production-specific artist positions, including Production Assistants, Special Effects, and Light & Sound Designers.

If you live in / near Portland, and are interested in being a part of the team, or if you are interested in helping the 4AS Film Production Club produce this project, check out our WAREHOUSE SCAREHOUSE page and take part in Truly Independent Cinema!!

Three Great Ways to Support Our Mission!

At 4ARTSAKE, we are dedicated to providing opportunities for new and developing artists to find and build their audience. We believe that the best way to bring artists and art-lovers together is through Collaborative Group Projects that showcase and elevate multiple creatives simultaneously through shared vision and collective effort. Here are three ways that you can help bring these projects to life!

Financial Contribution

Through your contribution, you will provide exhibition and distribution opportunities to new and developing creatives from all across the city, bolstering our unique and vibrant local arts community. With your help, we can expand our outreach, work with more artists, and take on new & exciting projects!

Donate Hardware & Supplies

For many Portland creatives, the tools and hardware necessary to make art can be too expensive, and ultimately inaccessible. Our teams are always accepting film equipment, computers, music gear, and visual art supplies including paint and brushes. Donate your unused supplies today!

Join a Project!

Perhaps the best way to support 4ARTSAKE is by joining a project already in progress! We are looking for creatives who want to add their voice, and extra hands to help us make and distribute our anthologies, our mixtapes, and our films. Reach out today, and let us know how you want to help!
